Our mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. Our vision is that all young people realize their full potential.
Our Community Based Mentoring Program is an ongoing program that always has a waitlist of young people who are facing adversities, looking for their own safe, dedicated, caring and supportive mentor.
With an $1800 investment, you will enable us to recruit, screen and train a volunteer mentor, screen and train a mentee and a caregiver and match them together. To ensure the safety of the mentee, we conduct regular and consistent Match Support check ins with the mentor, mentee and caregiver (minimum of 8 check ins with each). $1800 makes one new mentor/mentee match and supports it for 1 year.
The benefits of a 1:1 BBBS Mentoring Program are long lasting and significant. Building a Developmental Relationship between the mentee and mentor is one that expresses care, challenges growth, provides support, shares power, and expands possibility. The result of a Developmental Relationship is measurable outcomes in the areas of mental health & well-being improve, social emotional competence (relationship skills, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management and self-awareness), and educational engagement. The majority of our clients and their families are Indigenous, low income and living in single parent female lead homes.
Mentors are 18+ and come from a wide range of family compositions and demographics.
