The Mentally Safe Minecraft Server program is aimed primarily at youth ages 13-29. It includes 3 exciting worlds for gaming, an associated Discord that includes an area for rules and regulations to help everyone feel safe and respected, a chat to create a community feel, helpline numbers and online access to mental health workers, peer supporters and our Youth BounceBack Coach (a Social Worker specifically trained in CBT and BounceBack for Youth and Living Life to the Full for youth programming).
Mental health tips show up in-game every 10 minutes to remind people to take care of themselves while they play. There has been continuous growth in this program since its inception. We currently have 86 active participants and foresee increased growth as more youth see the benefits of engaging in this caring and safe community. We have received some great feedback from our gamers and this program has also received the Canada’s Premiers’ Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care.
