Survivors of Domestic Violence 2023:
Support for victims and children experiencing intimate partner and family violence. These services include assistance exiting unsafe or dangerous situations, establishing safety, and connection to appropriate services and support through the criminal justice system. This may also include essential needs otherwise unobtainable such as changing locks, providing a cell phone, food and diapers and other essential needs.
Every year, Family Service Regina receives over 7,000 referrals for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence in our city. Domestic violence can have a profound and long-lasting impact on the physical, emotional, and social well-being of victims, as well as on their families and communities. Family Service Regina provides trauma informed services and follow up to all domestic violence related calls for service to Regina Police Service. This includes our support groups which help survivors to connect with others to give and receive support in a facilitated peer setting. Our team advocates for victims in navigating the justice system, as well as providing referrals to other appropriate services and assistance in securing new housing. It is important to provide support and resources to victims of intimate partner and family violence to help them gain safety, independence and recover from trauma.
