On October 31, 2024 Future of Good and QuakeLab presented the results of Canada’s Top 50 Equitable Funders for 2024. Within this list, the Saskatchewan Community Foundation is proud to be ranked as the 20th most equitable! This list aims to recognize and praise funders who are actively building equity, inclusion, and anti-racism into many aspects of the granting including governance, team, investing and grantmaking policies and processes. QuakeLab took the largest 500 Charitable Foundations, and using thorough inclusion/exclusion criteria, brought the qualifying number of foundations to 158. After undergoing various stages of evaluation and information gathering, the remaining 158 foundations were ranked according to a diverse range of metrics including:
- Accountability,
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Efforts,
- Team and Governance,
- Application and Reporting Processes,
- Who We Fund,
- Funding and Disbursement, and
- Investment Portfolio
At the Community Foundation, we are always looking for ways to improve processes and to ensure we are bridging donors and the community in the best way possible. Donna Ziegler, the Executive Director at the Community Foundation, expressed this sentiment by stating “Our small and mighty staff continue to find ways to make our discretionary funding more equitable while tackling the key challenges facing our community.” Although we’re proud to be recognized for our efforts, the Community Foundation is dedicated and motivated to further improve our efforts in ensuring we provide an equitable lens to everything we do.
