Stefani Langenegger's Story
I’ve always loved animals and have been fortunate to share my life with them, including dogs and cats who are part of my family.
It can be easy to forget, curled up with a cat on your lap or walking your dog in the park, that there are animals all over Saskatchewan that are not so fortunate.
It wasn’t until I volunteered to foster dogs for a local rescue that I realized the extent of overpopulation in rural Saskatchewan.
Fostering has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. To see an adult dog play for the first time, or watch an overlooked dog find their perfect forever home. But there are too many dogs and not enough people to help. The same is true for many cat rescues and local humane societies.

How can we help? We can adopt, not shop. That’s part of the solution, to support animal rescues and humane societies in Saskatchewan that work to improve the lives of those animals already with us.
My dog Charli is from a rescue that partners with members of local First Nations to reduce the number of unwanted dogs in those communities.
My cats, Lou and Andy, were rescued from an overpopulated rural property by a group that is working to prevent future unwanted litters (https://www.sosprairierescue.com/beattheheat).

For all of the groups doing work to improve the lives of animals in Saskatchewan, there is often not enough money. This fund aims to help with that, particularly to reduce the number of unwanted stray animals in Saskatchewan.
