Non-Competitive Grant Applications ~
- The information on this page was last updated on: June 5, 2025
Application Intake Period: January 1 to November 1
The Non-Competitive Application Process offers a streamlined pathway for eligible organizations to request funding through a non-competitive grant process. While this process does not involve competition with other applicants, organizations must still meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for funding.
Eligibility is the first step in the Non-Competitive Application process. An eligible organization and initiative must meet the basic requirements for consideration in the next stages of the process.
Emergent Need: A way to support unexpected and/or urgent need in the community.
Capital Campaigns: A way to support typically larger-scale targeted fundraising efforts for more costly projects (such as a new building) that usually take place over a defined period. The Capital Campaign’s size, scope and defined timelines require community support from multiple sources.
Operations: A way to assist with the ongoing operational needs of programs or organizations that are essential for delivering services to the community but are still seeking funding to sustain their work.
Special Projects: A way to support vital projects and programs still seeking funding to be delivered to the community.
Please note:
- The intake portal is closed from November 2 to December 31.
- Guidelines and criteria may change before the application process opens for the next years intake.
- Applying through this process does not guarantee funding. Grants are subject to the availability of funds.
Guidelines and Criteria
To be eligible to apply for a grant, an organization must be a registered charity, a qualified donee as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada).
General Information:
- Grant amounts generally start at $200, with most approved grants averaging between $2,500 to $20,000; however, while we aim to provide meaningful support, full initiative funding may not be possible.
- The response time for proposals is typically 6 to 8 weeks, however, if we are unable to match your request to a donor, we will provide you with notification advising of such within a shorter timeframe.
Application Restrictions:
- Organizations may submit only one proposal per project each calendar year to ensure a fair and efficient review process.
- A limited number of Funds can consider such requests, depending upon the designation restrictions of the Fund, the amount the Fund is eligible to grant, and the philanthropic preferences of the Fund Advisor(s).
- To protect the privacy of our donors, applicants will not know to whom the proposal was sent.
Fund Advisors have a deep commitment to the community, which is why the Fund was created. However, they receive several worthy proposals each month, so it is impossible to fulfil every request.
