Impact Stories: Leaving a Legacy

The Bill and Helen Davidson Foundation Fund is Proud to Support the Regina Symphony Orchestra

Helen Davidson of Weyburn was a beloved music teacher for over 70 years, was active with Weyburn Music Festival, was a 50 year member of Saskatchewan Registered Music Teacher’s Association, was the region’s representative for the Royal Conservatory of Music over 25 years, church organist at Calvary Baptist Church where Tommy Douglas served as pastor, Life Deacon of the church, and was a community leader in service clubs such as Alexander Rebekah Lodge and Quota International.

She was also a fan and benefactor of Meagan Milatz, who grew up in the Weyburn area. In fact, Meagan was the first winner of the original Helen Davidson Music Award in 2008 which was established by Helen’s friends and colleagues in her honour to recognize outstanding young musicians in the musical community of Weyburn. Over the years Meagan and countless other musicians benefitted from Helen’s encouragement and support.

Now the Bill and Helen Davidson Foundation under the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation endeavors to support various local causes including music, charities and local needs.
