My experience as a Summer Student with the community foundation has been transformational. I had the unique opportunity to lead major initiatives such as the Friendraiser, an event that brought more than 100 charities together in one room, and the CommUNITY for Women Breakfast, which raised over $55,000. The trust, autonomy, and mentorship I received at the Foundation allowed me to take near full ownership of these projects, strengthening my event planning, fundraising, sponsorship, and marketing abilities while building confidence as a young professional.
What made the community foundation an exceptional workplace was its culture. It is an environment deeply dedicated to creating meaningful change, where every success is celebrated and where students are empowered to thrive. I was exposed to both the nonprofit and business worlds, gaining experience in areas such as board governance, philanthropy strategy, stakeholder management, hiring processes, and the chance to design and lead student-driven initiatives.
