Saskatoon Community Foundation is now taking applications for the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative grants program. This initiative is designated for enhancing and creating vibrant and accessible public spaces. $31M will be invested across Canada, administered by Community Foundations of Canada.
Saskatchewan will receive over $976,000 in funding through the initiative. Non-profit organizations, charities, Indigenous communities, and local governments are invited to apply online through Saskatoon Community Foundation.
CHCI is focused on public spaces which encourage a sense of belonging and collective identity, increasingly important in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will help communities:
- create safe and vibrant public spaces,
- improve mobility options, and
- provide innovative digital solutions to connect people and improve health.
Funding applications for the CHCI first phase may be submitted between February 9, 2021 and March 9, 2021. A second round of applications is expected to take place in May 2021.
