FINANCE/OFFICE STUDENT POSITION

Position Summary:
The Finance/Office Student will assist the Foundation’s administrative and finance team with donation processing, record-keeping, and general office support. This position is ideal for students pursuing business, finance, or accounting who are looking to develop practical, hands-on experience in nonprofit financial operations.
Strategic Alignment of the Position:
This role supports the Foundation’s goal of accountability and stewardship by ensuring accurate and transparent management of financial records. The Finance Student contributes to donor confidence, operational efficiency, and the long-term sustainability of the Foundation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process donations, receipts, and acknowledgment letters.
- Assist with data entry, database updates, and mail processing.
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits.
- Support reconciliation of donation and grant transactions.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the finance, granting, and office team.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in all financial recordkeeping.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data entry software.
- Reliable, organized, and professional.
- Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Interest in finance, accounting, or nonprofit administration.
Eligibility:
As this is in collaboration with the Employment and Social Development Canada Summer Student Program, participants must be:
- Between 15 – 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. Note: International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
Job Details:
- The positions are approx. 35 hours per week from May – August (approximately 12 – 16 weeks). Extensions of fall and winter work are based on budget limitations and skills of students.
- Hours of operation are from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
- Hourly wage: beginning at $20.00 and increases $1/year up to $24.00, paid bi-weekly.

- Student Team Lead, including all performance and time-off requests.
- The Student Team Lead reports to the Director of Finance & Strategic Operations.
- Director of Finance & Strategic Operations reports to the Executive Director.
