The South Saskatchewan Community Foundation (SSCF) has released its 2018 Regina and south Saskatchewan Vital Signs report.
This report, launched as part of the national Vital Signs week, leverages local knowledge to measure the vitality of our communities and support action towards improving our collective quality of life. The report expands upon SSCF’s 2016 Vital Signs theme of “Belonging” and three areas of focus: “Pursuing Reconciliation,” “Welcoming Newcomers,” and “Building Economic Inclusion.”
As part of the process, SSCF conducted qualitative research and gathered vital statistics to study belonging in our community. Vital Conversations on “Pursuing Reconciliation” and “Welcoming Newcomers” engaged the public and provided SSCF with crucial information on these topics. Other sections of the report, like the Community Dashboard, take the pulse of our community by reporting on people’s sense of belonging, unemployment, our province’s environment, and more. The report highlights great news stories about the community, such as the fact that median charitable donations in Saskatchewan and Regina are well above the national average and that Saskatchewan has the highest volunteering rate in the whole country!
SSCF is also proud to feature stories in the report from its Vital Signs Community Network – a group of like-minded charities, organizations, and community leaders that act as a sounding board for the SSCF. Featured stories are from Astonished!, the Regina Senior Citizens’ Centre (RSCC), Inclusion Regina, the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance, the Regina Early Years Family Centre, the Regina Food Bank, the YMCA, and the YWCA.
