We are in the business of Legacy Giving and generational impact. At our core, we build, protect, and honour legacies, forever. Through Legacy Giving, we can make a lasting impact on our community for generations to come.

The Community Foundation is fully self-funded.

We do not rely on sponsorships, government grants, or general donations to cover our operations. Every dollar donated to a Legacy Fund is protected forever and used only for its intended charitable purpose (not our operations).

We operate sustainably by using a small percentage of investment earnings from our pooled assets. That’s all we need to support our operations and the team below.

Our model is efficient and built for long-term sustainability. In fact, over the last three years, 99.4% of all donations have gone directly into individual, corporate, or charity funds. Only 0.6% of donations have supported our operations. That’s because we rely on investment earnings – not donor dollars – to keep the Foundation running.

Engagement Team:

This outreach and engagement team is funded by a generous gift from an anonymous donor. This gift is intended for the Community Foundation to dream and increase our impact in the charitable sector.

Shared Services Team:

This team is funded through a social enterprise cost-recovery model. The revenue that funds this team is from our shared services partners. This includes eight other Community Foundations across Canada.

The student team is largely funded through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Program. It is also funded by an anonymous donor who believes in the power of our youth.
