Stoughton Central School and SSCF hosted a Vital Conversation about youth via Zoom in February. Participants heard from youth leaders about their Stoughton Central School RBC Future Launch Community Challenge project where youth led free cooking classes to teach the importance of healthy eating to younger children. The youth leaders also participated in a group discussion regarding youth leadership, challenges, and solutions to overcome those challenges.
Sheila Berner, Community Education Liaison at Stoughton Central School, said, “What I took away from the meeting was a better sense of how the youth in our community are feeling during these challenging times and what barriers they are facing. It was valuable to have the feedback from the SSCF and RBC representatives, they shone a light on some of the resources that are available out there and how we can use them to help the youth in our communities.”
SSCF would like to thank Stoughton Central School and the youth leaders for making this project happen. SSCF also expresses gratitude to Royal Bank of Canada Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada for making this initiative possible.
