Starting a Fund at the Community Foundation is easy:
- Connect with us. Start a conversation with our team about the different fund types and your fund purpose.
- Board motion. The Board Motion documents the intentions of your organization to establish a fund or funds with the Community Foundation.
- Fund establishment. Our team will work with you to finalize the agreements(s), including the name of your Fund, your Fund purpose, and the value of your initial contribution.

Comparing the Types of Funds
Each of the three types of funds available to charities through the Community Foundation serves a unique — but complementary — purpose and operates slightly differently. The Community Foundation is here to help and we can work together with your leadership team and Board to develop a solution tailored to your organization’s strategic vision and financial needs.
Charities often choose to establish a Flow-Through in conjunction with a Legacy Fund as a means of supporting operational needs in the short-term while growing the Legacy Fund as a diversified source of sustainable and long-term funding.
